Areia e Pedra was a performance that took place at MCO Contemporânea in Porto, Portugal at the opening of Cristina Regadas‘s Etorno Retorno. The piece was an exploration of time, family, and geology through sand, stones, oil, shells, ashes, and the color white in the American Southwest. During the performance, photos from Texas, Mexico, New Mexico, Arizona, and California were projected on my body as I drew onto the wall, layering each image. The piece’s written and spoken text was translated to Portuguese and read by Filipa Araújo. The exhibition was on view from April 14 to June 9, 2018.
